A must-see driving route in Provence, circling both banks of the Grand Canyon of Europe. Starting in Castellane, the D952 runs along the right bank to La Palud-sur-Verdon, the gateway to the legendary Route des Crêtes (D23): a 24-km loop featuring 14 breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the limestone cliffs and the turquoise Verdon River. You’ll then head to the Point Sublime for a bird’s-eye view of the Couloir Samson, followed by the Corniche Sublime (D71) on the left bank, featuring the Pont de l’Artuby and the Balcons de la Mescla. The final leg to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie—named one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France—and the turquoise waters of Lake Sainte-Croix round out this grand tour before returning to Castellane. Allow a full day, including stops.
